Loveable Baby Gift

One of my good friend's daughter is having a baby girl and I wanted to make something special, but I only had a couple days to do it in. I have made dozens of these "Girly Skirts" before, so I knew it would be a familiar project. I had some extra charm packs in my fabric bin, which I like to collect, and a coordinating fat quarter, which I also like to collect. If you are at a fabric store and love certain fabrics, but don't have anything in mind for them, just pick up a charm pack or fat quarter or two and stash them away for a day like this one, when I didn't have time or want to go to the store to pick out fabrics. This particular charm pack was one of my favorites and I was so excited to use it! Since this was a newborn size skirt, I just used one long row of squares and added a strip of the coordinating fat quarter to the bottom and used it for the waistline as well. I threw in some elastic and it was done. I wanted something cute to add to it, and what is better than a matching headband? I got some elastic and covered it with the same fabric and used a couple remaining charm pack squares, cut and sewn into short strips and twisted into a circle, to make the flowers and I just stitched straight lines through it in different directions until it was secure. Soo easy, I don't know why I haven't done this before! Anyways, it turned out super cute and I whipped through it all uninterrupted in about 2 1/2 hours. Whew! Thank goodness for hubbys on days like these.
Congratulations on your sweet baby girl! I'm excited to see her!

Twin Baby Girls!

My sister-in-law just had twin baby girls and she was having a hard time finding outfits that matched, but were different. I decided to make her these reversible matching dresses so each baby could have 2 matching outfits by giving each one dress! One side was turquise and the other was pink each in different patterns! I found the tutorial on blog.polkadotbug.com. Check it out! Super easy!

I am so excited for Sara and Kate to wear them!! Congrats guys!

Colin's Room Transformation

When we moved into our house, I was dying to paint and decorate my kid's rooms. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! Here is Colin's room before we did anything to it

Bleh. B O R I N G!

My husband and his dad put up the cute chair rail and beadboard in the room, which I LOVE, and then we painted it this pretty color of blue! Lookin' good boys!

Here's how it looks today. I love the combination of white and brown together with ANY color.

Colin's crib with his blanket that was my inspiration piece, which every room's gotta have! -made by my sister-in-law, Ashley :)

I did not make his name. I had an idea of what I wanted to do and stumbled across these letter frames that were exactly what I had in mind, thanks to Hobby Lobby and their amazing sales! Lucky me! I only re-did the ribbon from white to brown so it adds a little more contrast

I also love to frame my kid's blessing outfits. I got this shadow box at Michaels and pinned my little man's suit right into it. Super Easy! Other half of my favorite room

My beloved rocking chair, that I spend alot of treasured time in, with Colin's quilt his Grandma made for him. I love this quilt and I love how she added ric-rac, buttons, and braided cross-stitch thread for tails! A special blanket for my special little man :)

This painting was done by my brother, Alan. I love it! It is so beautiful and takes me to a relaxing place. I love having it in my nurseries because of the baby pink and blue in it.

I chose this valance to help bring brown into the room. They are up with my favorite light-blocking panels that are my secret to training my babies to sleep in. Works great!

This was my last touch to his room. I added it right above his closet to represent how I feel about my baby. I love this quote and I love my angel baby

A friend of mine from college is an interior designer and on her blog she says that your house should represent who you are. You need to add your personal touch so when somebody comes into your house, they get a feeling of who you are and what is most important to you. She has a great blog about design ideas on a budget. Monkey Baby Blanket

My mom and I found this KIT for a baby quilt at a shop in California and decided to try it out. I did add some Minkey around the edges to make it larger and softer
I had it quilted by a lady at Gardiner's Sew n Quilt do the machine quilting for me
This was actually my first aplique project I have worked on, thanks to my mom for helping me get it started. It's not perfect, but I'm proud of it!

My baby boy Colin and his new blanket. He loves scrating at the little monkey

My baby Colin LOVES his new blanket, especially how snuggly it is with the Minkey fabric

My sweet little angel snuggling up for a nap

I just love how it turned out and how cuddly it is! I still have the pattern if anyone is interested in trying it out!

Snuggle Blankets

These are my kid's new Snuggle Blankets I made them for Christmas! They are just miniature blankets for them to snuggle when they sleep and take places for security so they don't have to lug full size blankeys everywhere. They were made with strips of different minkey fabrics with different textures and finished with ric-rac and a border. They were super easy, but the minkey is messy. My kids love them!
Cali and her new snuggle blanket. I fell in love with the pattern on the hot pink minkey! You can see it easier if you click on the picture above
Colin and his silly face with his new snuggle blanket
No, this was not my idea, even though I would love to take the credit. Paul's amazing Aunt Faye made up the pattern and I sorta copied it from this pic of the ones she made for her grandkids
So cute! Thanks Faye!

Reversible Car Seat Strap Covers

I made some of these for Colin's car seat so the straps don't dig into his neck. I have bought some before, for Cali, but decided to try making some. They were super easy! These are exactly like Colin's, but I made these for my nephew Aaron
While I was at it, I whipped some up for my sister's little girl Brynn also. I don't think these are as cute just because they were made out of fabric I just had laying around.

These were super fun and easy to make up, but if you don't want to make any, I originally ordered some for Cali from The Pitter Patter Boutique
