Turquise Table

So... I found this really nice table at DI recently and just fell in love with it. I didn't know where I wanted it for sure, but knew I wanted it turquoise! (Surprise, surprise) So, I sanded it down real good and used my new favorite Valspar spray paint and went to town on it! Ahhhh.....I love it! Finished it off with a couple coats of polyurethane and it is a beauty! I decided I like it in my kitchen just across from my new stools. They compliment each other very nicely!

This is the table I found at RC Willey last year that I wanted so super bad! The tag says $179 on sale! I think I paid $10 for my table and maybe $15 in paint! Score! Plus, I know it is EXACTLY the color I wanted it to be!

Turquise Stools

While Paul was at Summer camp with the scouts this year, I decided I needed a project to keep me busy and tired so time would go faster and I'd sleep better..... I have wanted some stools in my kitchen for a while now that I could paint to add some color to my kitchen. I found 3 matching, spinning stools at DI for nuthin', sanded them down nicely, and spray painted them turquoise. The color I chose was waay too bright, so I tried this one. It seems like it wouldn't have enough color to do much, but it was actually just right! I love this new Valspar paint! It goes on great and has such a nice finish!
This is after I sanded them down for the second time. They were black to start, then that "too bright" turquoise... I thought they looked pretty cool like this, but not really my style
This new color was amazing! I love it!
I recovered the top with this fabric I've had for a while.....waiting for the perfect thing to use it on.... and put a layer of plastic over them so they would be protected. And the best part is... THEY SPIN! Fun! What a great find!

 Here's the final product! LOVE!

Americana Decor

I absolutely LOVE Americana Décor! The 4th of July is my favorite Holiday and time of year. There is nothing more cheerful than red, white, and blue! Here was my mantle this year:
My friend, Ami, and I found these wooden "Proud To Be an American" craft sets at a place called Wood Connection. It is a super fun store! We got together and made them and I am in LOVE with it! We mod-podged the different scrapbook papers onto the letters and the stained the sides of each with a dark stain and added some fun textured ribbons. LOVE!
My daughter, Cali, really wanted to make something too so I got her this set of flip-flops and she painted them all by herself! The tutu flowers with jewels turned out adorable!
I love Summer! Hope everyone had a chance to enjoy theirs as much as we did!

Old Fashioned Bread Box

I was so excited when I found this old bread box at DI! These have been really popular lately so I was really excited to make it cute and stick it in my kitchen! I spray painted the whole thing white and then roughed it up with sand paper and stuck it in my kitchen! I loved it!....for a second, then realized it just wasn't me and it would sit there, unused, and taking up precious counter space. This made it a perfect item to trade at the Summer Extravaganza for something different! Yay! Too bad it didn't turn out to be all I had hoped for, but I'm hoping it made someone else very happy :)

Turquise Chevron Cork Board

For the Treasure Trade I also made this fun, cute cork board for décor. We had this old huge cork board just hangin' around and were just about to toss it when I thought, hey! Why don't I just paint it? The pins will still stick right into it just fine! I wanted to paint it turquoise chevron so I could hang it in my kid's playroom to hang all their artwork on (instead of in my kitchen, haha) AND it would be perfect as décor for the Treasure Trade! Voila! ...and just like that another project idea is born! I just used regular Valspar wall paint, since that is what I had on hand and rolled it on just as if I was painting my walls! My taping wasn't up to par for Paul so he did all his measurements to make this chevron look good! Haha! Thanks babe!

Here it is all dressed up pretty for the Treasure Trade! :)

Long Time No See....

So, I apologize it has been a very long time since I have posted any projects on here.... life has happened. Literally. We are expecting a baby boy in less than 2 months and that has changed a lot of things in our lives. Since I have last posted, I found out I was pregnant, went on an organizing spree getting everything ready in my house for me to be sick and on bed-rest. The sickness hit and stuck around for longer than it was welcome for, doesn't it always?? Once it was gone, I knew my contractions would start immediately so my family took a quickie vacation to Moab, since our jeep wont fit another family member in it.... Fun times! Then, I decided we needed to plan another Treasure Trade event before I was put on bed-rest, and made a tight squeeze to fit that into our lives.... (pics to come) and then Summer hit! Busy Summer has kept me hot, tired, but running full speed with my 2 older kids. We haven't held back much and have done a lot of fun things and surprisingly my contractions have stayed under control! Yes! I have also gotten some fun projects done that I am excited to post on here in the next bit. BUT....Lets start with this picture...
This is a picture of my beautified laundry room :) It makes me happy, but hasn't always..... A week before the Treasure Trade was supposed to be held at my house, I was getting my weekly laundry day out of the way so I didn't need to think about it until after the Trade event was held and over with. Well, I had just had some company leave and I was doing like eight other things at once to get ready for this thing and I turned my mud sink (not in the pic) on to scalding HOT water to soak my clothes and walked away..... (for maybe 45 min or so) Since it was a busy day I had music blaring and kids watching TV and I was running around checking things off my list when I went down to my quiet basement to hear some water splashing.....not normal! I noticed, right under my laundry room, water spilling out into my basement in a hurry and I FREEEKED! I ran upstairs to find my laundry room and mud area full of HOT water!

Long story short, I had some amazing friends who came to my aide and we had it all cleaned up and drying in record time and luckily, there wasn't any major damage.....Thank you, thank you! We were able to get the whole thing dried out and put back together in time for the party thanks to an amazing hubby and father in law. AND I even got them to paint it for me! I had this can of paint sitting on the floor of the laundry room for probably a year, but nobody who wanted to move my washer and dryer out to do it! But no, I didn't flood it on purpose.....haha. Now, I have a happy laundry room that makes me happy :) ...Now onto decorating it! Thanks babe!

Craft Room Storage

Ok, so my craft room got a BIG new improvement this week including LOTs of storage. I wanted storage cubes, but a custom size to fit all of my craft room supplies. Paul offered to build me a custom storage cube shelving unit, so I took him up on that offer real quick! I LOVE how it turned out! It is my new favorite piece of furniture. I have had a creative block for a while and now that all my supplies are organized I can actually whip out some creativity!
My craft room still needs alot of work, but I love being able to design it exactly how I want! Thanks to my hubby for his hard work!

Christmas Blocks

My sister bought these wooden blocks and left me a set in the Spring and I couldn't decide what to do with them until I realized there are 9 letters in Christmas! Yay!
The blocks are 1 1/2 inches square and I started by spray painting them red. I mod podged some cute glittery Christmas paper onto them and used my cricut to cut out the letters onto black vinyl. I finished it off by using glitter spray paint to mist some sparkles onto it. Nice finishing touch, if you ask me :)
What I love most about these blocks is you can arrange them so manu different ways! You can spread them out, or stack them up depending on how much space you have to work with!
This arrangement happens to be my favorite! Love them!
